How to use:

Media 2:

This sleek device is similar to a soundbar but with a simple power button, volume control and range sliders on the front.

When the power button is pressed and glows blue, the device automatically streams audio when it is available. Similarly, when powered off it automatically stops streaming audio.

Meanwhile, the volume slider alters the level of the sound and the range slider alters the range of which the hearing aids will switch to streaming i.e. for larger rooms, a bigger range is required.

Furthermore, at the back of the device are all of the options for the input of sound, including RCA Jacks, Optical TOSLINK (most commonly used, available on most modern televisions and cable boxes), Coaxial S/PDIF.

In addition, SurfLink Media 2 can simultaneously stream audio to multiple users which allows multiple users of compatible Starkey hearing aids to share the same listening experience.

Note that while no pairing is required, you will need to have a streaming program enabled on your hearing aids and a way to switch to it. This is usually a push-button on your hearing aids or remote control.

However, this may have already been installed by your audiologist when they provided your hearing aids to you. Nevertheless, this can be very easily configured by your hearing care professional if they haven’t already.

Remote Control:

Starkey’s Surflink Remote Control allows you to make changes to the volume, programs and “special” sound settings on your compatible Starkey hearing aids (see compatibility list below).

Indeed, it boasts 6 large, easy-to-see buttons which will alter the hearing aids as follows:

• Volume up
• Volume down
• Mute/unmute
• Program change
• Favourite
• Home

The home button will restore the hearing aids to normal volume and your normal start-up program. There are also two sliders, one at the top and one at the base of the remote control. The top slider allows you to choose which side of the hearing aid you alter, right or left individually or both together.

Keep this slider centrally if you wish your hearing aids to remain balanced. The blue and red LED lights to each side of this slider light up upon a button press to confirm that the change has been made within the hearing aid(s).

Meanwhile, the bottom slider allows you to lock the buttons so that accidental changes cannot be made to your sound settings when the remote is in a bag or pocket.
